Overview
USA:
The co-host USA surprised the cricket world and won two-out-of-two matches they played. Both victories must be cherished but the victory against Pakistan is what the cricketing community feels the best among the both. The most awed part of their performance (by me) was their fielding. Yes, they were exceptional in batting against Canada and were good at bowling against Pakistan but their fielding made the difference in both matches, especially in the USA vs Pak match. Pakistan did too many over-throughs and misfields which offered a handful of runs to the USA including the super-over and paved the way for the victory. They must continue their terrific all-round performance to beat India and be the unbeaten team in Group A.
India:
On the other hand, the World’s no.1 T20 team has played the way, making justice to the position. Yet their batting likely seems to be a point of concern. The promotion of Virat Kohli to open has not been fruitful yet, Surya Kumar Yadav needs to make an impact, and Shivam Dube needs to be rested, it might seem a harsh call as it has been only a couple of matches but the management should consider Sanju Samson in his place or they can go for Jaiswal at the top with Rohit and follow by Virat Kohli at 3 and SKY at 4. If Jaiswal arrives, Pant may return to the middle-order at 5 or 6 and play the role of finisher if needed.
Unlike batting, the bowling performances of Team India are solid and world-class. Bumrah, leading the attack proved why he’s a match-winner by bowling a match-winning spell against Pakistan and he is well accompanied by the pacers Siraj, Arshdeep, and even Hardik’s contribution has been good giving a cushion to the Captain to rotate them rightly through the course of the game. Spinners Jadeja and Axar were economical even though the pitch didn’t offer much to the spinners.
Key-Players
The key players for the USA will be Captain Monank Patel, Aaron Jones, and Saurabh Netravalkar as they were the previous game-changers. The key players for India will be Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah.
Conclusion
This is the first time India and the USA face each other in T20 Cricket. India’s experience and skill set make them apart as clear favorites, but the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket ensures that the US team’s determination could lead to a thrilling contest. Both teams have been unbeaten so far in the tournament, but that will change tomorrow as one of them must lose. Let’s see who’s streak will continue and who’ll face their first defeat.
