Smriti Mandhana was born on 18 July 1996 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her father Shriniwas Mandhana worked as a chemical distributor and her mother Smita Mandhana was a housewife. She belongs to the Marwari Hindu family. Smriti was two years old, the family moved to Madhavnagar, Sangli in Maharashtra. She completed bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Chintaman Rao College of Commerce in Sangli.

Domestic Cricket
Smriti got all the attention in October 2013, when she became the first Indian to score a double-hundred in a one day game. She scored 224* runs off 150 balls in West Zone U-19 tournaments in Vadodara against Gujrat.
In the 2016 Women’s Challenger Trophy, Her 62* runs off 82 balls in the finals against India Blue helped her team to win the trophy. She was the leading runs scorer with 192 runs of the tournament with three half-centuries for India Red.
International Career
Smriti Mandhana made her Test debut on 13 August 2014 against England at Wormsley Park. She shined in her debut innings with 22 and 51 runs respectively in the first and second innings. She made 76 runs in the opening-wicket partnership with Thirush Kamini while chasing the 182 target.
Mandhana made her One Day International debut on 10 April 2013 against Bangladesh, but in the second ODI game she scored her maiden international hundred 102 runs 109 balls against Australia in 2016 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Mandhana was named in the ICC Women’s Team of the Year 2016.
Mandhana missed the World Cup qualifier due to her injury. After a recovery she began the World Cup with 90 runs against England in Derby in the first of the group matches. India won the match by 35 runs and Mandhana was named as player of the match. Scored hundred 106* in the next ODI against West Indies. Mandhana was part of the Indian team to reach the final of the ICC Women’s 2017 Cricket World Cup.
England scored 228/7 in their 50 overs while batting first, All- rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt scored beautiful 51 runs in 68 balls. Jhulan Goswami got the super spell of 3/23 to restrict England under 230. While chasing Mandhana didn’t trouble the scorer, she scored a duck in the final. Punam Raut scored brilliant 86 runs in 115 balls and Harmanpreet Kaur scored 51 runs in 80 balls. India scored 219 in 48.4 overs, England Women won the match 9 runs. Anya Shrubsole bowled a superb spell of 6/46 and she was named as Player of the Match.
In October 2018, She was selected for ICC Women’s 2018 World Cup Twenty20 in the West Indies. During this tournament, she became the third cricketer for India to score 1000 runs in WT20I matches. She ended 2018 as a leading run scorer in WODIs with 669 runs at an average of 66.90. She was awarded as ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
In February 2019, she was named as captain of India’s Women T20I squad for the three match series against England. She became the youngest T20I captain for India when she led the women’s team against England in the first T20I in Guwahati. In May 2019, she won the International Women Cricketer of the Year awards at CEAT International Cricket Awards 2019.
In August 2021, she was also named in India’s Test squad for their one-off match against Australia. In the first innings of the match, she scored her first century in Test Cricket. She became the first Indian female cricketer to score centuries in both ODIs and Tests in Australia. In January 2022, she was named in India’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. In July 2022, she was named as the vice-captain of Indias ‘s team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 CommonWealth Games in Birmingham, England. In 2024, South Africa toured India for 3 ODI, 1 Test and 3 T20I. This was a dream series for Smriti Mandhana. She scored 117, 136, 90 in respectively three ODI, She missed her third consecutive hundred by 10 runs. She was named as the player of the series for ODI. In one Test against South Africa, She scored 292 record Opening wicket partnership with Shafali Verma where she scored 205 runs and Mandhan scored 149 runs in first innings. India Women won the Test match by 10 wickets. In the T20I series in the first match Mandana scored 46 runs, Second match was washed out due to rain. In third T20I she scored 54* runs, India leveled the T20I series 1-1 with South Africa.

In September 2016, Mandhana was signed up for a one-year deal with Brisbane Heat Women for the Women’s Big Bash League ( WBBL ), Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur only two Indian women to be signed up for the League.
In June 2018, Western Storm team were signed by Mandhana for Kia Super League, She is the only Indian to be in the leagues. In November 2018, she was named in the Hobart Hurricanes squad for the 2018–19 Women’s Big Bash League season. In 2021, Southern Brave brought Mandhana for the inaugural season of The Hundred.
