List of All-rounders:
- Marco Jansen
- Glenn Phillips
- Washington Sundar
- Wanindu Hasaranga
- Abhishek Sharma
- Shahbaz Ahmed
- Nitish Kumar Reddy
- Sanvir Singh
As of Sunrises, they have only used Marco Jansen as a proper all-rounder in the previous season. Glenn Phillips and Abhishek Sharma were used only as batters and, W Sundar was used only for bowling. They have to use more of the above-mentioned players as well as players like Aiden Markram, Hasaranga, and Cummins so that they can lift the trophy for the second time.
Delhi Capitals – 3/5
List of All-rounders:
- Mitchell Marsh
- Axar Patel
- Lalit Yadav
- Sumit Kumar
Delhi Capital has only four all-rounders in its team, which may be a disadvantage for them to maintain a balance in playing X1. They have to be dependent on the players who excel in their respective departments.
Punjab Kings – 3.5/5
List of All-rounders:
- Sam Curran
- Liam Livingstone
- Chris Woakes
- Sikandar Raza
- Rishi Dhawan
- Harpreet Brar
- Vishwanath Singh
- Tanay Thyagarajan
They have 4 world-class all-rounders, who made a significant impact while playing for their respective countries. Also, players like Rishi Dhawan and Harpreet Brar are successful in the domestic formats. Although they have players who made a significant impact on international standards, they have not performed very well in the IPL. So the rating falls to 3.5/5
Kolkata Knight Riders – 3.25/5
List of All-rounders:
- Andre Russell
- Sunil Narine
- Sherfane Rutherford
- Venkatesh Iyer
- Ramandeep Singh
- Anukul Roy
- Angkrish Raguvanshi
Kolkata has only two proper all-rounders and those two have contributed in a significant way to the team over the years. Other than Russell and Narine no other all-rounders had been fully utilized by the team in the recent past, not even V Iyer who has been there for a while. In the previous season, both Russell and Narine did not perform well which led to the elimination of the team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – 3.25/5
List of All-rounders:
- Cameron Green
- Glenn Maxwell
- Tom Curran
- Mahipal Lomror
- Mayank Dagar
- Manoj Bhandage
- Swapnil Singh
RCB has been survived only by individual brilliance ever since the IPL commenced. No all-rounders had done better in RCB. The performances of Kohli, De Villiers, and Gayle in the past and the performances of Kohli, Fad du Plessis, and Maxwell in the present are the only positives for them. But they can turn the tide with the arrival of Cameron Green, who’s a proper all-rounder and can add the balance to the team.
Rajasthan Royals – 3/5
List of All-rounders:
- Ravichandran Ashwin
- Rovman Powell
- Abid Mushtaq
- Riyan Parag
Rajasthan is the team with a very weak all-rounders’ squad. Even though Ashwin can bat he cannot either contribute as much as a proper all-rounder does or as much as he bowls. Riyan Parag can do both at a competent level, but will he get a chance to do both? This is a question from our end to the team. This team too like DC, and has to count on the other players who excel in their respective departments.
Lucknow Super Giants – 3.75/5
List of All-rounders:
- Marcus Stoinis
- Kyle Mayers
- David Willey
- Deepak Hooda
- Krishnappa Gowtham
- Krunal Pandya
- Arshin Kulkarni
- Prerak Mankad
On paper, LSG has a handful of good all-rounders. But other than Kyle Mayers, no one has performed well in the team. Players like Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, and Krunal Pandya though having international experience failed the previous year led to the fall of their team in the eliminator in 2023. If these all-rounders show a collective good performance, they can win the title.
Mumbai Indians – 4/5
List of All-rounders:
- Hardik Pandya
- Mohammed Nabi
- Romario Shepherd
- Nehal Wadhera
- Arjun Tendulkar
- Naman Dhir
- Anshul Kamboj
- Shams Mulani
- Shivalik Sharma
By buying Hardik Pandya from Gujarat, Mumbai strengthened its core. He can single-handedly change the course of the match by bat. In the recent past his bowling too, became a great accomplice for him. Not long ago in the ICC World Cup, he bowled around 140+ which is a good sign for Mumbai. On the other hand Nabi, he too an explosive all-rounder and can make his team go past the finish line. Apart from the above two, the rest all-rounders are also good enough to trouble the opposition which makes them a deadly team.
Gujarat Titans – 3.5/5
List of All-rounders:
- Rashid Khan
- Rahul Tewatia
- Vijay Shankar
- Azmatullah Omarzai
- Shahrukh Khan
Other than Rashid Khan no other all-rounders did their part in the previous season. Both Rahul Tewatia and Vijay Shankar played as a pure batter last year. Now that Pandya has moved, team management should try to fill the void by utilizing both the players to their core. The arrival of Azmatullah will be a good addition to the team.
Chennai Super Kings – 4.5/5
List of All-rounders:
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Moeen Ali
- Mitchell Santner
- Shivam Dube
- Shardul Thakur
- Rachin Ravindra
- Daryl Mitchell
- Rajvardhan Hangargekar
- Nishant Sindu
- Ajay Mandal
Chennai Super Kings has been thriving these years not only because of the brilliance of MS Dhoni but also because of the performances of their all-rounders over the years. The team is filled with quality all-rounders. Only certain players like Dhoni, Ruturaj, and Rahane will not bowl. Other than them, all the other players can and will show their batting and bowling prowesses. Also, the return of Thakur will be a massive advantage to the team who showed his batting excellence in the recent Ranji trophy. With all bases covered, CSK will eye for their sixth trophy.
Conclusion
The contributions of all-rounders often extend beyond statistics, inspiring their fellow players and galvanizing the entire team towards victory. Let’s wait and witness which team’s all-rounders lead their team in the victory lap in the final of the IPL 2024.
